Algerian striker Mounsef Bakrar bid an emotional farewell to GNK Dinamo in an Instagram post on August 10, 2026. His move to Egypt's Al-Ahly for three million euros was officially confirmed by the Zagreb club on the same day.
Bakrar did not hide his emotions in his farewell letter, emphasizing how much his time in Zagreb meant to him. "It's never easy to say goodbye to a place that has become my home. To my teammates, coaches, staff, and everyone at Dinamo, thank you for believing in me, supporting me, and helping me grow both as a player and as a person," Bakrar wrote in his Instagram post.
He specifically reflected on their shared successes, including winning the domestic double. "Together, we shared unforgettable moments, fought for this badge, and achieved something special by winning the league and cup double," he added.
A large part of his message was dedicated to Dinamo's fans, whom he thanked for their support from the first to the last day. "Playing in front of you and representing this great club was an honor. I leave with pride, gratitude, and memories that will stay with me forever," he said.
He concluded with words that sparked the most reactions: "Thank you for everything. Dinamo and Zagreb will always hold a special place in my heart."
Bakrar joined Dinamo at the start of last season from New York City for one million euros. In the blue jersey, he played 42 matches, scored 18 goals, and recorded seven assists.
The club bid him farewell with a post on their official Twitter profile, highlighting his performance: "You thought we forgot, but how could we forget 18 goals in a season? Now it's official: Mounsef Bakrar is no longer a GNK Dinamo player as of today, and he will continue his career with Egypt's Al Ahly. We wish him luck in his new environment, plenty of success, and a host of goals. Dear Baki, thank you for everything!"
