Barcelona is considering signing the Croatian goalkeeper from Fenerbahçe and immediately loaning him to Dinamo for one season. A final answer is expected within seven days.
Dominik Livaković, the Croatian goalkeeper currently playing for Fenerbahçe, could return to Dinamo on a one-year loan, but under very specific circumstances. As the world's most famous football insider, Fabrizio Romano, announced on social media platform X, Barcelona is seriously considering signing Livaković from the Turkish club, after which they would immediately send him on loan to Maksimir.
According to Romano's post, which was reported by HRT, the idea is clear: Barcelona would sign Livaković, send him to Dinamo for one season, and then bring him back to their ranks in 2027 as a backup for Joan García, given that Wojciech Szczęsny's contract will expire. "Barcelona are considering a move for Croatian GK Dominik Livaković. Nothing done yet but idea to sign him and loan for one season, then bring back in 2027 as backup for Joan García with Szczęsny out of contract," Romano wrote.
This outcome would be ideal for everyone involved. Fenerbahçe would offload the Croatian goalkeeper for a decent fee, Livaković would get the chance to play again at Maksimir, and Dinamo would finally have a top-class goalkeeper they need for European challenges. Barcelona, in turn, would have a proven solution between the posts from the 2027 season.
Barcelona's involvement in the story is not surprising given their long-standing good relations with Dinamo through Croatian agent Andy Bara. Bara was instrumental in bringing Dani Olmo to the Catalan club and also represents Livaković himself.
However, many things still need to fall into place for the transfer to happen. Above all, Dinamo needs the Champions League more than ever. If Dinamo makes it into the European elite, it's clear they need a goalkeeper of top caliber. If they lose to Viking in the play-off, it's quite realistic that Ivan Filipović, currently Dinamo's first-choice goalkeeper, would defend the goal in the Europa League, an experience that would be invaluable for him.
The most precise answer to how this "tangled ball of wool" will unravel should come in exactly seven days, around 11 PM, when Dinamo's return leg in the Champions League play-off against Norwegian side Viking concludes.
Meanwhile, Dinamo continues with their domestic duties. The Blues welcome NK Varaždin to Maksimir on Saturday, August 22, in a match of the 4th round of the SuperSport HNL. The match starts at 9 PM, and tickets are sold exclusively online via the club's official website.
Pre-sale for members started on Wednesday, August 19, at 11 AM and lasts until Thursday, August 20, at 10 AM. General sale begins on Thursday at 11 AM and lasts until Saturday at 9:45 PM. Prices for individual tickets for the West lower stand are €15 for members and €20 for other fans, while the North lower stand is available exclusively to members at €7.
Season ticket holders who cannot attend the match can transfer their seat via the online service until Saturday at 12 PM. "Thank you for your fantastic support. On Saturday, Varaždin comes to Maksimir, and then we travel to Norway for a victory worthy of the Champions League!" the club said, accompanied by photos of Luka and Goran Stanzl.
