The driver leading a wedding convoy on Slavonska Avenue in Zagreb around 7 p.m. on Saturday performed drifting on the roadway, endangering the safety of other traffic participants, and the entire event was captured by an HRT camera. The footage was later published by HRT Radio Sljeme on its Facebook page, where it quickly drew public attention.
The video footage shows the vehicle at the head of the wedding convoy performing controlled sliding maneuvers on the pavement of Slavonska Avenue, one of the busiest city roads in Zagreb. In addition to the dangerous maneuvers, police sirens can be heard in the footage, after which the driver stops such behavior. Along with the post, HRT Radio Sljeme wrote:
"Drifting on Slavonska... Moments ago in front of HRT - the 'flag bearer' dangerously endangers the safety of the entire wedding convoy, but it sounds like the police didn't miss it."
From the Zagreb Police Department, they confirmed to the media that they are aware of the footage of the incident and that they are conducting an investigation and determining all circumstances of the case. Details about the driver's identity or the course of the procedure were not available to the public at the time of publication.
The Road Traffic Safety Act as such does not stipulate a specific penalty specifically for drifting, but such behavior falls under the category of dangerous or reckless driving.
