Hajduk Split's women's football team learned their first obstacle in the UEFA Women's Europa Cup qualifiers on Monday. After their success in the Champions League, the Whites will test their strength against Denmark's Fortuna Hjørring.
Hajduk Split's women's football team, popularly known as Hajdučice, received a clear answer on Monday as to who their first opponent will be on their path to the UEFA Women's Europa Cup. The draw held in Nyon, Switzerland, decided that they will face Danish side Fortuna Hjørring in the first qualifying round.
Recall that Hajdučice secured their place in the Europa Cup qualifiers through their performance at the mini qualifying tournament for the Champions League in Radenci, Slovenia. With a victory against hosts Mura, they secured third place in the tournament, which earned them a spot in this new UEFA club competition for women.
Unlike the tournament format of the Champions League, the Europa Cup now presents them with a classic two-legged tie. The first match against Fortuna Hjørring is scheduled for August 26, 2026, in Split, where the Whites will have the opportunity to gain an advantage in front of their home fans before the away leg in Denmark.
The return leg will be played a week later, on September 2, 2026, at the Danish club's ground. The winner of this tie will face the better side from the matchup between Zagreb's ŽNK Agram and Belarusian Minsk in the next qualifying round.
Interestingly, Agram also learned their opponent on Monday. The Zagreb side, who qualified for the European Cup by finishing second in last season's Croatian championship, will need to overcome the Belarusian representative to advance. This opens the possibility of a Croatian derby in the second round, should both our representatives pass their first hurdle.
