Karlovac police stopped a 75-year-old driver on Tuesday morning, August 4, 2026, who was driving a passenger car through the city with a blood alcohol level of 2.11 promille. The driver was operating a vehicle with Karlovac license plates, and the breathalyzer test was conducted during a routine traffic control.
Due to the high alcohol concentration, the driver was immediately banned from driving at the scene. According to the Karlovac Police Department, he was placed in special police facilities where he was held until the effects of alcohol wore off. Measures will be taken against him in accordance with the provisions of the Road Traffic Safety Act.
On the same day, the Ozalj Police Station received a report from a 41-year-old business owner. An unknown perpetrator stole parts from his construction machine in the Ozalj area, with material damage estimated at over 1,000 euros. Police are continuing their work to identify the perpetrator.
