Split will mark Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day, Croatian Veterans Day, and the 31st anniversary of the military-police operation Storm over two days, August 4 and 5, 2026. A comprehensive program has been prepared, including paying tribute to the fallen, a ceremonial parade, musical performances, fireworks, and an opportunity to learn about the Croatian Army.

Tribute to Veterans and Central Event on the Riva

The commemoration begins on Tuesday, August 4, with the laying of wreaths and flowers at two locations: the Lovrinac city cemetery and the Park of Croatian Veterans. At 7 PM, a thanksgiving Mass will be held at the Church of Our Lady of Health. Later in the evening, a ceremonial procession of Croatian veterans with war flags will pass through the city center. The parade will be musically enhanced by the Stjepan Radić Brass Band, joined by the Split City Majorettes.

Following the parade, the program moves to the Riva, where the main part of the commemoration begins at 8:30 PM. The schedule continues with a concert by the Revue Orchestra "With Love for the Homeland," scheduled for 9 PM.

Missile Corvette and Conversations with Soldiers

On the West Bank, citizens will have a unique opportunity to tour the missile corvette RTOP-12 "Kralj Dmitar Zvonimir" during the day. The ship is open to visitors from 10 AM to 8 PM. At the same location, from 10 AM to 6 PM, the Croatian Army Info Zone will be set up. There, interested individuals can speak directly with armed forces members and learn more about military service, educational opportunities, and career development in the Croatian Armed Forces.

Musical Delights and Fireworks to Close

The second day of the program, Wednesday, August 5, is reserved for a major concert by Prljavo Kazalište on the Split Riva. Their performance begins at 9:30 PM. An hour later, at 10:30 PM, the sky above the city will be illuminated by a ceremonial fireworks display from Gata sv. Nikole. Simultaneously, starting at 9 PM, theater enthusiasts can watch a performance of the opera "Nikola Šubić Zrinjski" by Ivan pl. Zajc at the playground of the Tourism and Hospitality School.

The City of Split has invited all citizens and their guests to participate in the program and thus pay tribute to Croatian veterans.
