Due to the extremely unfavorable hydrological situation caused by a prolonged dry period, the company Ličke vode issued an urgent appeal today, August 11, 2026, to all users in the Lika region. The water utility warns that reduced spring yields and available water quantities have been recorded, and the water supply system is further strained by increased consumption and frequent network failures.
Since it is not possible to predict the development of hydrological conditions in the coming weeks and months, Ličke vode urges citizens to use water exclusively for basic household and economic needs. Until further notice, users are asked to reduce unnecessary water use, such as watering lawns and gardens, washing cars, filling pools, and similar activities that consume large amounts of water.
The company's employees are making significant daily efforts to ensure regular supply and to resolve any failures as quickly as possible. Despite this, they emphasize that if unfavorable hydrological conditions continue or worsen, they will be forced to implement temporary water supply reductions. The goal of such a measure would be to ensure the population is supplied with basic quantities for essential needs, and the public will be promptly informed of any changes.
