During the early morning hours yesterday, police officers specialized in combating migrant smuggling and illegal migration intercepted a vehicle in Hreljin that was transporting foreign nationals who had illegally entered Croatia.

A car with Czech license plates was stopped, and behind the wheel was a citizen of Azerbaijan. According to police information, the driver was transporting migrants for profit to a pre-arranged destination.

Criminal Investigation and Filing of Charges

After the criminal investigation was completed, the police established reasonable suspicion that the suspect committed the criminal offense of "Illegal Entry, Movement, and Residence in the Republic of Croatia, Another EU Member State, or a Schengen Agreement Signatory" under Article 326 of the Criminal Code.
