Sučić was with Inter on a preseason tour in Perth, Australia, where the team was preparing for the new season. The Croatian international joined his teammates later due to rest after international duties and mostly trained individually. He did not play in the match against Milan because he learned just before kickoff that his wife had been hospitalized. As soon as he found out labor had begun, he boarded the first available flight to Milan without hesitation.
