On Saturday, August 1, 2026, around 10 p.m., in the roundabout in Pakoštane, police officers noticed a car with Zadar license plates moving in a dangerous manner. The driver was accelerating suddenly, then braking hard, spinning the wheels, and repeating these actions, resembling drifting in circles.
The patrol immediately stopped the vehicle. Behind the wheel, they found a 30-year-old man whose breathalyzer test showed 1.93 grams per kilogram of alcohol in his blood. A check also revealed that he was driving without a valid driver's license, i.e., before obtaining the right to drive.
As we learn from the Zadar Police Department, the man refused the offered blood and urine tests for further analysis. After the violations were established, he was arrested and taken to police premises.
On Sunday, August 2, 2026, the 30-year-old was brought to court with a criminal complaint. The police proposed a fine, a prison sentence, and a protective measure banning him from driving for 12 months. After the hearing, the judge ordered his detention for up to 10 days, after which he was transferred to the prison in Zadar.
