A.V. (34) is suspected of unlawfully depriving of liberty a woman from Kruševac in an apartment in Sokobanja from late June or July, causing her minor bodily injuries.
A member of the Kosovo Police, A.V. (34), was arrested in Sokobanja on suspicion of keeping his romantic partner captive for a month, beating her and causing injuries, N1 Serbia reported on Wednesday, citing Nova.rs.
By order of the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Aleksinac, the suspect was remanded for 48 hours on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 9:30 PM, Kurir.rs confirms. According to the same source, an urgent measure of temporary prohibition of approaching and communicating with the victim was also imposed, also for 48 hours.
According to N1 Serbia, the suspect is from the area of AP Kosovo and Metohija, and is charged with the criminal offense of unlawful deprivation of liberty to the detriment of his romantic partner I.Ž. from Kruševac. The victim, according to the prosecutor's office, was locked in an apartment in Sokobanja, where she was treated in a "particularly cruel manner" and sustained injuries classified as minor bodily harm.
Sources differ on the period during which the victim was held captive. N1 Serbia reports the prosecutor's office stated it occurred from July 27 to August 28, 2026. On the other hand, Kurir.rs cites the period from June 27, 2026, to July 28, 2026.
The information reported by N1 Serbia is chronologically inconsistent with the arrest date of July 28, indicating a possible error in dating. Kurir's version suggests the abuse lasted approximately one month before police intervention.
The suspect will be questioned during his detention at the competent prosecutor's office in Aleksinac, which has announced that it will keep the public informed on the further course of the proceedings in a timely manner.
