Real Madrid Snatches Diomande from PSG, Liverpool Eyes Barcola for £140 Million

This summer's transfer market is bringing fierce battles among Europe's giants. Real Madrid Steals PSG's Target

PSG had long targeted Diomande, an Ivorian winger who scored 12 goals in 33 Bundesliga appearances last season. He was also part of the Ivory Coast national team at the 2026 World Cup, where he was nearly unstoppable on the right wing but couldn't prevent his team's elimination in the round of 16. However, Real Madrid entered the fray and met Leipzig's demands, according to Klix.ba. The transfer fee exceeds €100 million, and the player will travel to Madrid this week for a medical and sign a contract until June 2031.

The move so enraged the Parisians that they issued an official statement.

"PSG has tonight formally withdrawn its interest and offers for Yan Diomande. The transfer and salary demands were completely disproportionate, and PSG will not break its principles of rational financial management and squad balance," reads the statement, which Sky Sport DE received from the club and was relayed by Twitter profile Madrid Xtra, as well as Klix.ba.

Interestingly, Liverpool also tried to sign Diomande this summer, but their £85 million offer was rejected, adds Goal.com. After Real Madrid secured his signature, the English club has fully turned to an alternative solution.

Barcola 'Open' to Anfield, PSG Demands £140 Million

Bradley Barcola (23), a French international with two years left on his PSG contract, is open to joining Liverpool, reports Goal.com citing the Daily Mail. The young winger is not a regular starter under coach Luis Enrique and has expressed a desire to explore new opportunities, especially after PSG's plan with Diomande fell through.

However, the Parisians are setting a high price. They are demanding £140 million for Barcola, nearly double last summer's estimated value of around £75 million. Liverpool will try to negotiate a compromise. The club sees Barcola as an ideal successor to Mohamed Salah and a player who fits Andoni Iraola's style of play.

Although Arsenal and Bayern Munich are also interested, and Chelsea previously inquired, Barcola wants to talk to Liverpool if a deal with PSG is reached. Goal.com notes that Barcola shone at the 2026 World Cup with France, reaching the semi-finals, which further boosts his price.
