As the summer transfer window heats up, the football market is dominated by two big names. Mohamed Salah is officially a new Trabzonspor player, and Real Madrid is on the verge of signing the most expensive player in its history. Meanwhile, Croatian footballers at Hull City received bad news.
RB Leipzig and Real Madrid are in the final stages of negotiations over the transfer of Yan Diomande, a 19-year-old winger from Ivory Coast. According to insider Florian Plettenberg, the total value of the deal, including bonuses, is expected to be between €130 and €140 million. This would make Diomande the most expensive signing in the club's history, surpassing Jude Bellingham, for whom Real paid €127 million.
The transfer has been speculated about all summer, and the player was close to joining PSG. However, Real entered the race, and the negotiations, although lengthy, have borne fruit. Diomande made 36 appearances for Leipzig last season, scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists. Transfermarkt values him at €90 million. However, final clearance for a medical has not yet been issued.
After mutually terminating his contract with Liverpool, the 34-year-old Egyptian has signed for Trabzonspor. The club officially presented him, and Salah told the club's website: "Trabzon, are you ready? I hear you. See you soon."
Insider Fabrizio Romano revealed details of the two-year contract. Mohamed Salah's base salary will be €17 million per year, and with bonuses, it can reach €22 million. Additionally, he will receive 20% of the revenue from the sale of shirts with his name. Trabzonspor, considered the fourth-largest Turkish club, finished third last season and will play in the Europa League qualifiers.
Arsenal, according to Fabrizio Romano, has agreed on the transfer of Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle. The transfer fee for the 28-year-old midfielder is €87.5 million, although some sources mention a figure of €100 million. Manager Mikel Arteta has identified him as a key reinforcement for the Premier League title defense.
On the other hand, Romelu Lukaku (33) did not show up for Napoli's preseason, and his departure from the club is expected, most likely to MLS side Atlanta United. Young Argentine talent Franco Mastantuono (18) is leaving Real Madrid on loan to Fiorentina until June 2027. Although coach Sergej Jakirović and Hull City were linked with Croatian internationals Marco Pašalić, Franjo Ivanović, and Toni Fruk, it seems the transfer will not happen. Club president Acun Ilıcalı posted an X sign next to the Croatian flag on social media platform X. This suggests the deal has fallen through, especially since two weeks ago he claimed the transfer of an unnamed Croatian was 80% complete.
Other significant changes occurred on Tuesday. Bayern Munich removed João Palhinha, Sacha Boey, Bryan Zaragoza, and Armindo Sieb from the first-team squad list, a clear sign they are no longer counted on. Newcastle has identified Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha (25) as a replacement for Guimarães, with an estimated value of €55 million. Italian club Como has agreed on a loan deal for Brazilian full-back Yan Couto (22) from Borussia Dortmund, with an option to buy for more than €20 million.
