Hajduk's footballers are visiting Lithuanian side Žalgiris in the first leg of the Conference League third qualifying round. The match started at 7 PM Croatian time in Vilnius, and within the opening minutes, the Split side was awarded two penalties.

Quick penalty and confident finish

Already in the 4th minute, referee Marc Nagtegaal pointed to the spot after Šotiček broke down the left and laid it off to Šego, who went down in a challenge with a home player. Šego took responsibility and in the 5th minute calmly slotted the ball into the middle of the goal to give Hajduk a 0:1 lead.

After the goal, Hajduk continued to threaten. In the 8th minute, Šotiček had a clear chance after Pukštas won the ball, but the new signing sent his effort wide of an empty net.

Second penalty and Šarkauskas's save

Just a few minutes later, in the 13th minute, Šotiček again broke down the left and won another penalty for Hajduk. Šego stepped up again, but this time he was not precise. In the 14th minute, he shot to the bottom right corner, but Žalgiris goalkeeper Šarkauskas read his intentions and saved the effort.

In the 17th minute, Šego threatened again after Pukštas won the ball, but his shot went over the bar. The home side threatened in the 19th minute through Franke, whose shot was saved by Silić, and then Teixeira shot, but Hrgović blocked it.

Injuries and officiating team
