A traffic collapse at the exit from Split marked Wednesday afternoon, August 12, 2026, after parts of the city were left without electricity. Although the traffic lights have since been restored, a long line of vehicles moved slowly from the intersection with Domovinskog rata Street toward the city exit.
A reader of the Dalmacija Danas portal contacted us from the scene and described the situation. "The traffic lights are back on, but it's jammed from the intersection with Domovinskog rata. Crowd heading to the Mall," she said, referring to the large number of vehicles stuck in the congestion.
A photo taken on the ground confirms her account. The image shows a long line of cars slowly moving toward the city exit, while traffic in the opposite direction flowed significantly faster.
The problems began earlier in the afternoon when readers reported that Dragovode had lost power. Due to the interruption in electricity supply, several traffic lights in the eastern part of Split also stopped working. Shortly after, it was reported that power had also gone out in the Vrboran area on the island of Kila.
Although the electricity supply has apparently been restored and the traffic lights are functioning again, the consequences of the traffic congestion are still being felt. Those traveling through this part of the city should be prepared for slower driving and possible stops in queues.
