From the Second Police Station in Split, it has been reported that the criminal investigation against a 76-year-old man has been completed. He is charged with domestic violence, threats, and illegal possession, production, and procurement of weapons and explosives.
Arrest After Attack on Wife
Police officers arrested the 76-year-old on August 11, 2026, on suspicion that he attacked his wife on the same day and committed the criminal offenses of threats and domestic violence against her. According to police reports, there is reasonable suspicion for a total of three criminal offenses.
Kalashnikov with Ammunition Found
As part of the criminal investigation, police searched the premises used by the man. During the search, they seized a Kalashnikov-type automatic rifle, four empty magazines belonging to it, and two additional magazines loaded with ammunition.
The police note that this man had previously been prosecuted and convicted with a final judgment for illegal possession, production, and procurement of weapons and explosive substances.
Investigating Judge Releases Him
After the criminal investigation was completed, the 76-year-old was handed over to the detention supervisor along with a criminal report. However, after being questioned, the investigating judge decided to release him with protective measures.
He has been ordered not to approach the victim and not to establish or maintain any direct or indirect contact with her.
