Police officers from the Zadar Traffic Police Station stopped a motorcycle on Akcije Maslenice Street in Zadar on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 3:45 a.m. The rider, a 20-year-old, committed several serious traffic violations at once.
A check revealed that the young rider was operating the motorcycle before obtaining the right to drive motor vehicles, i.e., without having passed a driving test. Such riding poses a significant risk because the road user has not undergone the required training and has not confirmed their competence, which is especially dangerous on a motorcycle where a mistake leaves little room to avoid severe consequences.
The vehicle did not meet the criteria for being on the road. Police found that the motorcycle had no license plates and that its registration had expired. As a result, both the rider and the vehicle were removed from traffic.
For the violations, the 20-year-old was fined a total of €1,580. In addition to the fine, he was also issued a three-month driving ban as a precautionary measure.
The case in Zadar once again highlights the importance of nighttime police checks, which are not only focused on speed and alcohol. On the roads, there are also drivers without any right to drive, and motorcycles and cars often fail to meet basic legal standards. This time, the intervention ended without a traffic accident, which is the primary goal of such operations: to stop a dangerous driver before a violation escalates into a crash.
