Vukovina is once again preparing for one of the most visited holidays in the vicinity of Velika Gorica. The celebration of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary on Saturday, August 15, 2026, brings a full-day program that combines religious content, musical performances, and traditional offerings for all ages.
The religious program will take place at the parish church in Vukovina, where Masses are scheduled at 7, 9, 11 AM, and 6 PM. The central Mass at 11 AM will be led by Auxiliary Bishop of Zagreb, Mons. Vlado Razum, further highlighting the importance of this gathering for the local community.
The musical part of the program will feature three performers. Visitors can look forward to performances by Grupa Viking, the duo Darko and Igor, and Jasmin Godinić and his band. These artists are expected to create a diverse atmosphere throughout the day and evening.
In addition to spiritual and musical content, Vukovina will also offer a rich culinary experience. Two tents will be set up at two locations: near Konzum and near Caffe Bar Petice. Visitors will gather there, and numerous stalls will offer food, sweets, drinks, and toys. Lovers of traditional cuisine can enjoy roasted meats, ćevapi, and other dishes that are an indispensable part of such celebrations.
For the youngest visitors, a fairground will be set up, ensuring fun for all generations. The blend of tradition, faith, music, and socializing is why many residents from Velika Gorica and the surrounding area return to this holiday every year.
