Water in Zadar County Safe: First Test Results Within Limits

Residents of Zadar County can breathe a sigh of relief. On Wednesday, August 19, 2026, the Zadar Public Health Institute released the first preliminary results of drinking water analyses, confirming that measured PFAS levels are within the maximum permissible concentrations set by the Ordinance on Compliance Parameters, Analysis Methods, and Monitoring of Water Intended for Human Consumption.
Sampling was conducted on August 17, 2026, at the request of Zadar County Prefect Josip Bilaver, and the report is signed by the Institute's Director, Benito Pucar. A total of 15 water samples were taken from sources across the county, along with four samples from points of use, i.e., taps in buildings.
Water samples from sources were collected at the following locations: Bunar 5 Pumping Station, Bokanjac, Jezerce Spring, Ninski Stanovi, Boljkovac Pumping Station, Grbe, Golubinka Spring, Vrsi, Velebitski izvori Spring, Seline, Dolac Pumping Station, Žegar Pumping Station, Žegar, Bijeli klanac Srb Pumping Station, Ledenik Pumping Station, Bruvno, Štikada Pumping Station, Štikada, Kožlovac Waterworks, Kožlovac, Biba Spring, Vrana, Turanjsko jezero, Sv. Filip i Jakov, Begovača Waterworks, Vrana, and Kakma Spring, Kakma.
Four water samples were collected from taps in buildings located in Zadar, Biograd na Moru, Benkovac, and Gračac, where water is used.
Further analyses are underway, and results will be published on the websites of Zadar County and the Zadar Public Health Institute. According to the instructions of the Expert Committee for Water Intended for Human Consumption of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia, monitoring of drinking water will continue without interruption.
