A pre-trial detainee escaped from police today at the County Court in Velika Gorica and remains at large, confirmed by the court for 24sata. The man was brought to court under police escort for the determination of pre-trial detention because he had failed to comply with a court order.
According to information from the court, the fugitive had previously been in prison, and as soon as he was released, he began making threats against his former common-law wife. As a result, he was immediately arrested and brought to court in Velika Gorica.
"The officers were leading him in handcuffs when he broke free and fled. The officers chased after him but were unable to catch him," the court confirmed.
The police immediately launched a search for the escaped detainee, but he has not been found so far. Details of the search, as well as the man's identity, have not yet been released by the police.
