Hajduk's footballers will face Lithuanian side Žalgiris on Thursday at 7 PM in the first leg of the third qualifying round for the Conference League. The Split club has the opportunity to secure a play-off spot after already overcoming two opponents in earlier stages of the competition.
This will be the Whites' fifth European test this season. They advanced past Slovakia's Žilina with an aggregate score of 3:2, while they were eliminated by Cyprus's Pafos after extra time with an aggregate of 4:2. In both cases, Hajduk celebrated at home but lost away.
At the press conference that started at 5:30 PM, coach Gonzalo Garcia and midfielder Rokas Pukštas previewed the clash against Žalgiris. Garcia particularly emphasized the importance of a positive result after two consecutive defeats, and the live text coverage of the presser was available on Index.
"It's always important to win after a loss. It doesn't matter how you lose. Especially in a club like Hajduk, where it's a problem whenever you lose a single match. Focus is needed. Every match is important to us," Garcia stated.
