Croatian roads are once again under seasonal pressure on Thursday, August 6, 2026, the Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) is reporting periodically increased traffic on all major roads. Density is particularly felt on city bypasses and main roads, with approaches to tourist destinations becoming points where drivers' patience is put to the toughest test.
Congestion is not limited to the asphalt, increased traffic has also been recorded near ferry ports and docks, as well as at certain border crossings. HAK warns that occasional delays threaten on all sections where roadworks are underway, meaning that even alternative routes do not guarantee a faster passage.
HAK's appeal to drivers boils down to a simple but often overlooked message in such conditions: speed and driving style should be adapted to the current road conditions. With increased vehicle frequency, the risk of unpredictable situations rises, so caution, at least on paper, remains the only true protection.
