Fans of sophisticated musical tones are in for a treat tonight. The Summer Stage in Opatija hosts Gregory Porter on Thursday, August 6, 2026, the American singer and songwriter whose velvet voice is considered one of the most recognizable in the contemporary jazz and soul scene. This two-time Grammy winner will perform a concert starting at 9 PM, and according to organizers, tickets are nearly sold out.
Doors open an hour earlier, at 8 PM, and the Opatija stage is expected to be filled once again with enthusiasts from all over Croatia and abroad. Porter's performances are renowned for their intimate atmosphere and powerful emotional charge, where he often speaks through music about his own experiences and growing up in Bakersfield, California.
Before traveling to Croatia, the musician sent a heartfelt message to his fans. "I'm really looking forward to seeing you all again. I'm coming with my band, and we're bringing all the love we have. Thank you so much for all the love and blessings you've given us over the years, and I can't wait to join you again in Croatia," Porter said, as reported by Fiuman.hr.
The setlist is sure to include some of his most famous performances. Audiences are eagerly awaiting tracks from the album Take Me To The Alley, which earned him a Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album. The album recently saw a deluxe vinyl reissue, further cementing its timeless status.
Before the main star of the evening takes the stage, the audience will be warmed up by local musician Frano Livingston, whose real name is Frano Živković. This Croatian guitarist and multi-instrumentalist already has a notable international career. He recently performed at the blues festival in Pordenone, Italy, as the opening act for the band Dogstar, which features Hollywood star Keanu Reeves.
Livingston's musical journey also includes a stint in Nashville, where he attended a convention dedicated to legendary guitarist Chet Atkins. In recent years, he has gained invaluable jazz experience as a member of the Big Band Pula. His performance, blending international experience with local musical sensibility, is the perfect prelude to an evening dedicated to top-tier jazz and soul.
