Summary
  • HAK warns of increased traffic toward the Adriatic and special regulations in Knin.
  • Due to the 31st anniversary of Operation Storm, roads DC1 through Knin and DC33 between Knin and Zvjerinac are closed.
  • Detour routes lead via DC33, King Tomislav Street, and Domovinskog rata Street, as well as county road ŽC6058.
  • Drivers are urged to exercise caution, adjust their speed, and form an emergency corridor in case of traffic jams.

Drivers heading toward the Adriatic on Wednesday are encountering increased traffic, while special traffic regulations are in effect in the Knin area. The reason is the commemoration of the 31st anniversary of the military-police operation "Operation Storm," Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day, and Croatian Veterans Day, announced the Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) in the morning hours of August 5, 2026.

Although traffic on most roads in the country is flowing without major restrictions, sections where roadworks are underway are an exception. HAK has recorded increased vehicle density on the main road routes leading to the sea.

Details of Traffic Regulations in Knin

Due to the central celebration, the state road DC1 through Knin is completely closed to all traffic. Drivers are being redirected via a detour route that includes state road DC33, King Tomislav Street, and Domovinskog rata Street.

In addition, state road DC33 is closed on the stretch between Knin and Zvjerinac. Traffic on this section is being redirected via county road ŽC6058, which runs along the route Kosovo - Orlić - Biskupija - Kovačić.

Slowdowns and Appeal to Drivers

Additional difficulties for drivers may be caused by slow traffic on state road DC1 between Knin and Gračac, specifically near the town of Otrić, where roadworks are in progress.

The Croatian Automobile Club appeals to all road users to adjust their speed and driving style to the road conditions. They also urge drivers to maintain a safe distance between vehicles and, in the event of a traffic jam, to form an emergency corridor to allow unimpeded passage for emergency services.
