According to eVisitor system data, tourist traffic from three key markets saw significant growth in July and the first seven months of 2026.
The Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) has released initial data from the eVisitor system, showing a significant increase in tourist arrivals and overnight stays from the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Italy during July, as well as in the first seven months of 2026. Notably, Czech guests have made a comeback after years of decline, while the Italian market has finally broken its stagnation.
The most positive shift was recorded in the Czech market. In July, the number of tourist arrivals from the Czech Republic increased by 12% compared to the same month last year, with overnight stays up by 7%. The annual trend is also positive, in the first seven months, there was a 5% increase in both arrivals and overnight stays.
Czech visitors spent the most time in Istria, Split-Dalmatia, and Zadar counties, with Umag, Poreč, and Medulin standing out among destinations.
Good results also come from the Hungarian market, which confirms its importance for Croatian tourism. In July, arrivals from Hungary rose by 8%, while overnight stays increased by 7% compared to last year. From January to the end of July, there was a 7% increase in both arrivals and overnight stays.
Hungarian guests mostly stayed in Kvarner, Istria, and Zadar County.
After several years of stagnation, the Italian market is also showing a positive trend. In the first seven months of this year, arrivals and overnight stays from Italian tourists increased by 2% compared to the same period last year, while in July alone, arrivals rose by 1%.
HTZ hopes that these positive results will be further confirmed in August, during Ferragosto, the traditional peak summer travel period for Italians. This year, Italians have been particularly frequent visitors during the pre-season, often on short weekend trips, with destinations in Istria and Kvarner being the most attractive.
