Summary
  • On the A1 before the Lučko toll, the queue is 7 km long from the direction of Buzina and 3 km from the direction of the Zagreb West junction.
  • A traffic accident on the A1 between Vukova Gorica and Bosiljevo 1 slows traffic to two lanes.
  • On the Adriatic Highway, due to wind, there is a ban for vehicle group I, and a landslide near Kaštel Kambelovac.
  • On the A3, a 4 km queue toward Bajakovo; on the A2, a 1.5 km queue before Trakošćan.

Drivers heading to the coast on August 2, 2026, were met with heavy traffic and delays. According to a report from the Croatian Auto Club (HAK) published at 6:49 AM, traffic is intensified on major roads, especially toward the coast, with queues forming at toll booths, on access roads, and in tunnel and junction zones.

The most critical point is on the A1 Zagreb-Split-Dubrovnik highway. Before the Lučko toll booth in the direction of the coast, a queue approximately 7 kilometers long has formed from the direction of Buzina (A3), while from the direction of the Zagreb West junction, it stretches about 3 kilometers. Between the Lučko toll and the Bosiljevo 2 junction, traffic is moving in slow-moving columns with brief stops.

Traffic Accident and Breakdown Further Complicate Passage

The situation on the A1 is further complicated by a traffic accident that occurred between the Vukova Gorica rest area and the Bosiljevo 1 junction, at kilometer 62+800 in the direction of Dubrovnik. As a result, traffic is moving slowly in two lanes. At the same time, due to a broken-down vehicle between the Novigrad junction and the Vukova Gorica rest area, traffic on that section is reduced to one lane.

Delays on Other Routes

Congestion has not spared other highways. On the A2 Zagreb-Macelj, before the Trakošćan toll booth in the direction of Zagreb, the queue is about 1.5 kilometers long. On the A3 Bregana-Lipovac, in the direction of the Bajakovo border crossing, a queue of passenger and freight vehicles approximately 4 kilometers long is reported.

Problems on the Adriatic Highway

Driving on the Adriatic Highway (DC8) is also not without difficulties. Due to strong winds on the sections between Novi Vinodolski and Senj, and between Karlobag and Sveta Marija Magdalena, there is a ban on traffic for double-decker buses, motorcycles, and vehicles with trailers, i.e., for vehicle group I. Additionally, on certain sections, traffic is moving with temporary traffic signals due to roadworks, while in the town of Kaštel Kambelovac, traffic is temporarily regulated due to a landslide.

HAK earlier summarized the situation with a warning for Tportal:

"Traffic is intensified on major roads, especially toward the coast. Delays and queues are present at toll booths and their access roads, as well as in tunnel, junction, and rest area zones, and on approaches to tourist destinations on the coast, in ferry ports and docks, and at most border crossings."
