Croatian pensioners can soon expect their July pensions. The Croatian Pension Insurance Institute (HZMO) has confirmed that payments to accounts at commercial banks will begin on Friday, August 7, 2026.
For any additional information, pensioners can contact HZMO by calling the info lines 01/45 95 011 and 01/45 95 022, available on weekdays from 8 AM to 4 PM. All details regarding pension insurance rights are also available on the Institute's official website.
According to the latest HZMO statistics, there are 1,233,886 pension beneficiaries in Croatia. The largest share consists of old-age pension beneficiaries, numbering 523,557, while 150,512 individuals receive disability pensions, and 204,301 receive survivor pensions. The ratio of insured persons to pensioners remains unfavorable: for every pension beneficiary, there are only 1.46 insured persons.
Regarding amounts, the average total old-age pension for those who qualified under the Pension Insurance Act (excluding pensions under international agreements) for June was €721.73. Those with long service records receive significantly higher pensions: the average old-age pension for beneficiaries with 40 or more years of service is €879.28.
It is important to note that July marks the start of the second regular pension adjustment this year. According to the law, pensions are adjusted twice a year, on January 1 and July 1, tracking changes in consumer prices and average gross wages. The HZMO Management Board is required to determine the new current pension value no later than two months after the end of the half-year. The adjustment is carried out automatically, ex officio, without issuing individual decisions.
