On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at approximately 9:40 AM, a serious traffic accident occurred on state road D59 in the town of Bribir, resulting in injuries to a motorcyclist. According to the Šibenik-Knin Police Department, the 65-year-old motorcycle rider, bearing Zadar license plates, veered off the road and sustained severe physical injuries.
The accident occurred when the motorcyclist, entering a clear left curve, failed to stay in the center of the marked traffic lane. Instead, he kept closer to the right edge of the roadway, causing him to run off the road on his motorcycle. The front of the vehicle struck a rock, after which he lost his balance and fell to the ground along with the motorcycle.
The injured rider was rushed to a medical facility in the Benkovac area. Doctors confirmed he had sustained severe physical injuries, and he was admitted for further hospital treatment. No additional details about his current condition have been released.
The police reported that a mandatory misdemeanor citation will be issued against the rider for causing a traffic accident and committing a traffic violation.
