The criminal investigation into the events from early this week in Sveti Ivan Žabno has been concluded by the Koprivnica-Križevci Police Department. The unfortunate incident involved the head of the Sveti Ivan Žabno municipality, Nenad Bošnjak (58), who was handed over to the custody supervisor after the investigation.
Threats and Disturbance in Front of a Child
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon. According to the police statement, three men, aged 58, 27, and 23, approached a stopped car containing a 31-year-old man and a child. The motive was previous disagreements.
Following that, the men, by shouting, making noise, and hitting the car, disrupted public order and peace in a particularly offensive and indecent manner. During the event, the 58-year-old Bošnjak is suspected of having made threats against the 31-year-old, endangering his life.
Reports and Precautionary Measures
Due to suspicion of committing the criminal offense of threats, a special report was filed against the municipal chief with the competent state attorney's office. At the same time, a motion to initiate misdemeanor proceedings for violation of public order and peace was filed against all three participants.
The court imposed protective measures on them, including a ban on approaching the 31-year-old and a ban on any contact or communication with him. The police also temporarily seized weapons legally owned by the 58-year-old and the 27-year-old.
The further course of the proceedings will be decided by the competent state attorney's office.
