Vasyl Krupych, a Ukrainian veteran who served as a machine gunner in battles in the Donbas region, survived the horrors of the front lines but sustained severe injuries far from them. As reported by Stijena.info, citing the BBC, Krupych was part of a rear-area patrol tasked with checking the documents of military-age men in December. Two men refused to show their documents and attempted to flee, and the chase quickly turned into a brutal physical confrontation.
One of the men attacked the veteran with a crowbar and severely beat him. Krupych suffered a broken rib and spent six weeks in the hospital. "He broke my rib. I lay there and couldn't breathe," Krupych told the BBC. "What did we fight for if I can now be beaten by soldiers?" he added, expressing deep disappointment.
The Russian Telegram channel RVvoenkor published footage on August 2, 2026, which, according to the post's title, shows members of Ukraine's Territorial Center for Recruitment (TCC), responsible for conscription, "mobilizing" a father in front of his young daughter. The channel Slavyangrad also posted a brief message the same day mentioning the TCC and Kharkiv.
