On Tuesday, August 4, 2026, the renovated road connecting Zlatar and Lovrečan in Krapina-Zagorje County was ceremoniously opened. The total value of this infrastructure investment is just under €700,000, and the project was carried out in cooperation between the City of Zlatar and the County Road Administration of Krapina-Zagorje County.
The works covered a 1,250-meter stretch known as Martinečka Street. In addition to complete asphalt paving and widening of the roadway, a closed storm drainage system was built, solving the long-standing problem of water runoff from the road.
Special attention was paid to the safety of the most vulnerable road users. As part of the project, the City of Zlatar co-financed the construction of a new sidewalk with €150,000. To ease the city budget, €93,000 in grant funds was secured from the National Road Safety Plan.
The Mayor of Zlatar, Jasenka Auguštan, expressed satisfaction with the completion of the works and thanked everyone involved in the implementation. The new, modern road with a sidewalk will bring a significant improvement in the quality of life for local residents, easing daily commutes and, crucially, providing much greater protection for all road users in that area.
