Ten Times More Powerful Than the Legal Limit

According to the Međimurje Police Department, the scooter ridden by the 34-year-old was not classified in any vehicle category and was prohibited from moving on traffic surfaces intended for vehicles and pedestrians. The permitted power for electric scooters in Croatia is 600 W, meaning his scooter was ten times more powerful than the legal limit and could reach speeds of up to 85 kilometers per hour.

The police determined that the man was driving with 1.16 per mille of alcohol in his blood. On a flat section of the road, he hit the curb of an elevated pedestrian and bicycle path with the side of the scooter, overturned, and fell onto the roadway. As reported by the Međimurje Police Department, he was not wearing a protective helmet.

Rushed to Čakovec Hospital

The injured 34-year-old was transported by ambulance to the Čakovec County Hospital, where the extent of his injuries will be assessed later. The police have announced that misdemeanor charges will be filed against him.
