Summary
  • Plenković says power supply is stable, and Krško NPP is operating without issues.
  • Record-low Danube water levels threatened Hungary's nuclear plant but not Croatia's energy security.
  • Most demands the army guard the borders after events in Ceuta, which the PM dismisses as politicking.
  • Plenković ironically suggests that anyone cooperating with Most will quickly 'see the light'.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković was on Brač on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, where he commented on several current topics, from energy security to political demands of the opposition. At the center of his remarks was the party Most, whose proposals he responded to with a dose of irony.

Enough Power, Krško Stable

In the context of the record-low Danube water levels that nearly halted the operation of Hungary's only nuclear power plant, Plenković reassured the public that Croatia has no reason for concern. "Regarding the security of electricity supply, it is guaranteed; Croatia will have enough electricity. We don't recall such a low Danube water level; we've heard announcements from Hungary," the Prime Minister stated.

He also commented on the operation of the Krško Nuclear Power Plant, emphasizing that there are no issues. "As for the Krško NPP, everything is fine. According to my information so far, the situation is stable," Plenković added.

"Politicking" at the Expense of Most

The trigger for his comments about Most were the events in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, which brought the issue of army engagement at borders back into focus. Most stated that this situation proves the correctness of their long-standing demands for the Croatian army to guard the state border.

Plenković dismissed this thesis, noting that the police remain responsible for border surveillance. "What happened in Ceuta is incomparable to our situation," he briefly commented.

He then responded to Most's proposals with an ironic recommendation. "That's politicking; we're used to it. Whatever the topic, they have brilliant ideas. I recommend everyone to cooperate with them; they will quickly become enlightened, just as we did," Plenković said.
