In the Facebook group 'Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds', a post appeared that touched many fans. Matea Roščić (44) decided to search for a photograph that would mean more to her than anything else - a moment from 1997 when, as a sixteen-year-old, she danced with Nick Cave on the stage of Zagreb's Lisinski Hall.

An Unusual Girl in a Dress from Hrelić

That evening, her parents took her to the concert. During the encore, as the crowd pressed against the stage, Cave spotted her in the crowd. "I guess I looked unusual enough, and confused enough, for him to come straight to me. I was standing in my little white dress with purple and pink flowers, bought at Hrelić for two kuna at the time, when he bent down, took my hand, and pulled me onto the stage," Matea recounted in her post.

The musician then sang 'The Ship Song', and what followed is something Matea remembers as the most beautiful memory of her teenage years. "He sang it in my ear as we slowly danced on stage," she revealed.

A 29-Year-Long Search

Since there were no smartphones back then, that magical dance was not captured in any photograph that Matea owns. That's why, after 29 years, she turned to the internet with an emotional plea.

"That memory has been living rent-free in my head for almost thirty years, and it's also one of the most beautiful memories from my teenage years," she wrote. She added that she still keeps Cave's autograph from that period, and even a joint photo from the press conference, but not one that would forever preserve the moment on the dance floor.

"Believe me, finding just one photo of that moment would mean something I honestly can't put into words. I still have Nick's autograph from that time. I even have a photo with him from the press conference. But I don't have the photo I've been looking for for 29 years. So... internet, do your thing!" she urged.

The Dress Is Still Here, the Photo Is Still Awaited

Matea invited everyone who was at the concert or knows someone who was to go through old photo albums and drawers with forgotten memories. She says, maybe that's exactly where the photo she's been looking for for almost three decades is waiting. The little dress from Hrelić, in which she danced on stage that June evening, she still keeps carefully. As she herself points out, finding the photo would be the most beautiful gift for both 'big' and 'little' Matea, who are celebrating their birthdays soon.
