Jadrolinija's motor ship Premuda, which has been sailing the Croatian sea for nearly seven decades, will navigate the Neretva River for the first time this weekend. The ship is currently in Metković, where it will take on the honorary role of command ship at the 28th Lađa Marathon on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
The exciting news was shared by Ivo Batričević on the Facebook group Dubrovnik nekad, and it was picked up by Dubrovniknet. As stated, the Premuda will participate in the Neretva lađa race as the command ship and will serve as support for the rowers. This first entry of the Premuda into the Neretva marks a historic moment for a vessel that has connected Croatia's islands and coast for decades.
In recent years, outside the summer season, the Premuda regularly sails on state shipping line 807, which connects the Elaphite Islands. Now, it will briefly trade the open sea for the Neretva River, where it will be the centerpiece vessel of one of Croatia's most significant sporting and traditional events.
