The celebration of Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day, Croatian Veterans Day, and the 31st anniversary of the military-police operation Storm will have a special musical note this year in Letovanić. As the highlight of the central program, a major concert by Prljavo Kazalište will take place on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 9:00 PM, as reported by Sisak.info.
The organizer, the Municipality of Lekenik, has prepared a series of activities spanning several days. The commemorative program will be held on August 4, 5, 7, and 8, 2026, at three locations: Lekenik, Letovanić, and Poljana Lekenička. Letovanić was chosen as the venue for the central event due to its exceptional historical significance during the Homeland War.
A New Song for Veterans
Ahead of the commemoration itself, the official music video for the new patriotic song "Victors, Writing History" has been released to the public. The work is dedicated to all Croatian veterans who took part in the defense of the country, as well as to fallen, missing, and deceased veterans and their families.
The lyrics are penned by poet Dinko Barać, while the music and editing are the work of Jure Ivančević (Gospa od Ružarija Budimiri). The authors emphasize that the song was born out of respect and gratitude toward all those who contributed to the creation of a free and independent Croatia. The lyrics underscore the importance of preserving the memory of the Homeland War and passing those values on to future generations, as reported by DalmacijaDanas.
"The song was created as an expression of respect and gratitude to all those who, through their contribution, took part in the creation of a free and independent Croatia," the authors say.
The music video is available on YouTube, and those interested can find it via the official link published alongside the news.
The organizers invite all residents and visitors to join them in paying tribute to Croatian veterans and jointly marking this important date, and the Prljavo Kazalište concert is sure to be the central gathering point in Letovanić.
