Paris Saint-Germain has set its sights on Mika Godts, the young Belgian international from Ajax. After their initial bid of €40 million was rejected, reports from Paris indicate they are preparing a new, significantly more generous offer, aiming to secure one of Europe's most sought-after attackers.

New Offer on the Table

According to Dutch outlet De Telegraaf, Ajax rejected PSG's initial €40 million bid without much hesitation. However, the French champions' hierarchy is not giving up. They are expected to officially submit a new offer ranging between €50 and €55 million soon. This is still less than the amount Ajax values their player at, which, according to Spanish outlet AS, is around €60 million. Nevertheless, the gap is narrowing and could lead to an agreement.

Negotiations between the clubs are ongoing, as confirmed by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano. "Negotiations between PSG and Ajax for Mika Godts are ongoing. An agreement between the two clubs is on the horizon, following the exclusive story from a week ago," Romano announced on his channels on August 7, 2026. His initial post about the opening of talks, from July 31, has garnered as many as 16.1 million views.

Last Season's Sensation

Mika Godts is only 21 years old and joined Ajax in early 2023 from Belgian club Genk. Last season was his full breakthrough. In 32 Eredivisie appearances, he scored 17 goals and provided 12 assists, contributing to nearly half of all league goals for the Amsterdam club. His performances were capped with a double accolade at the end of the season, he was named both the league's Young Player of the Year and Ajax's Young Player of the Year.

What sets him apart is his one-on-one play. Godts had the most successful dribbles in the entire Eredivisie last season. Out of 182 attempts, he successfully bypassed his opponent 85 times. Ajax notes that since detailed Opta tracking began, only four club players have recorded more successful dribbles in a single season than Godts.

Long-Term Solution for Paris

PSG sees Godts as a long-term solution for their attack. He primarily plays on the left wing but can cover multiple offensive positions. His signing has become a priority, especially if Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye leave the club. In addition to Godts, the Parisians are also close to completing the transfer of Maghnes Akliouche.

Ajax, on the other hand, currently has no need to sell their biggest young star below his value. The Belgian winger is already a regular international, and interest from major European clubs is nothing new. PSG's new, increased offer should test the Dutch club's resolve to hold onto their gem.
