On the occasion of the 31st anniversary of Operation Storm, the Croatian military and police demonstrated top-tier training and power in Knin, from the aerobatics of the Wings of Storm to the deafening performance of the Rafale.
On this day, August 5, 2026, Knin was the stage for an impressive display of military might marking the 31st anniversary of the military-police operation Storm. The Croatian Army and Police joined forces to showcase their exceptional readiness, equipment, and training through three demanding and captivating exercises that left onlookers breathless.
The program began in the sky, where the Croatian Air Force aerobatic team "Wings of Storm" performed a series of precise maneuvers over a ten-minute flight program. Five aircraft in perfect formation delighted the crowd, while the official announcer explained the complexity of each element. It was highlighted that these special aerobatic aircraft are flown by the best of the best-specially trained pilots whose skill is a point of pride for the Croatian Air Force.
Following the aerial introduction, attention shifted to the ground, where a simulated response to an ambush attack was staged. Members of the police special forces and the Croatian Army participated, demonstrating lightning-fast reactions and flawless coordination. Helicopters played a key role, including the powerful military Black Hawks from which special forces rappelled. In a record time of just one and a half minutes, the threat was neutralized, confirming the exceptional efficiency and speed of the units in crisis situations.
The highlight of the entire program-and the moment that literally "tore through everyone's ears"-was the eight-minute performance by the pilot of the multi-role Rafale fighter jet. During incredibly demanding maneuvers at the edge of physical limits, the pilot was subjected to a force of 9 G at one point. This means he endured a load nine times his own body weight, representing an extreme physical and mental strain. The sound of the powerful aircraft echoed across the Knin area, and the flawless execution confirmed the superior capabilities of the aircraft itself and the extraordinary training of the pilot at its controls.
The entire program was more than just a military exercise. From elegant aerobatics, through the rapid response of special units, to the demonstration of raw power and technological superiority of the Rafale, the gathered citizens had the opportunity to see firsthand the strength behind the country's security.
