In a nighttime Russian attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv region on the night of August 4-5, 2026, 17 people were killed and 44 wounded, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed. The targets included key civilian logistics centers, including the Nova Poshta sorting center in Kyiv and the distribution warehouse of Ukraine's largest online retailer, Rozetka, in Brovary.
According to Ukrainska Pravda, three people were killed and eight wounded in the attack on the Nova Poshta sorting center. The company stated that Russia used cluster munitions. UNIAN reports that among the dead were two drivers from a transport company and one employee of a subcontractor. Nova Poshta promised clients full compensation for damaged shipments and announced it would contact them personally.
A particularly severe incident occurred on the platform of the "Kvitneva" station near Brovary, where eight people lost their lives. According to Vitaliy Bihun, head of the Brovary District State Administration, people were unable to board a train that was slightly delayed, leaving them exposed to the attack.
In addition to the postal center, three ballistic missiles hit Brovary, destroying the distribution warehouse complex of Rozetka. The news was confirmed by co-owner Iryna Chechotkina. The Telegram channel Operatyvny ZSU reported that warehouses of the Novus retail chain were also hit. The Clash Report channel notes that a Nova Poshta branch in the Obolon district of Kyiv was almost leveled.
Sources differ on the exact location of the strike on Nova Poshta. While Ukrainska Pravda and UNIAN report a destroyed sorting center in Kyiv, the Voenacher channel claims that the strike with an Iskander cluster missile was carried out on the Nova Poshta terminal in Brovary, in the Kyiv region. The details of this discrepancy remain unclear for now.
