The administration of President Donald Trump has approved the resumption of large-scale intelligence sharing with Ukraine, restoring cooperation to levels seen before recent tensions between Washington and Kyiv, Politico reported on Wednesday, August 6, 2026.
According to reports, the renewed flow of information is being used to plan long-range strikes on energy infrastructure inside Russia. The US Institute for the Study of War (ISW) assessed that the expanded intelligence sharing has significantly increased the effectiveness of Ukrainian strikes on Russian targets.
The increased cooperation was also confirmed by US Senators Mark Warner, John Cornyn, and Tim Kaine, who stated that intelligence assistance to Kyiv has been stepped up. Analysts note that US data has helped Ukraine carry out more precise strikes, adding that Washington simultaneously benefits from detailed Ukrainian insights into the Russian military.
Despite the restoration of full intelligence support, the White House has indicated that the administration's ultimate goal remains ending the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and reducing the number of casualties.
"The President wants this war to end and the senseless killing to stop. The President and his team continue to intend to play a constructive role in ending the war between Russia and Ukraine," the White House told Politico.
The restoration of full intelligence sharing signals a strengthening of support for Kyiv at a time when Ukrainian forces are seeking to bolster their position on the battlefield and increase pressure on Russian logistics and the energy sector.
