Sarajevo is gearing up for one of the most significant music events of this summer. Legendary British electronic group The Prodigy will perform on August 13, 2026, at Grbavica Stadium, and organizers revealed at a press conference on August 5 that the program will last a full six hours, turning the concert into a sort of one-day festival.

From Dream to Reality at Grbavica

Co-founder of the Garden of Dreams collective, Renad Čelik, did not hide his emotions at the press conference. "It's totally unbelievable to me that we're here at a press conference announcing a The Prodigy concert at Grbavica Stadium. I've got goosebumps," said Čelik, adding that for his generation, The Prodigy represented "the first window into the world after the war."

The road to this concert took two years of negotiations. "We were supposed to do it last year, but we just missed out on this booking by a hair," Čelik revealed. Members of the Garden of Dreams collective recently attended a The Prodigy show at London's O2 Wembley Arena, where they witnessed the power of their performance firsthand. "Every one of their shows is an audiovisual spectacle that literally blows you out of your shoes," he emphasized.

"This won't be just a single band's concert; we'll have nearly a six-hour program. We'll open the gates at 5 PM, the first band will perform at 6, then 7, 8, 9... So we'll practically have a small one-day festival at Grbavica Stadium," said Renad Čelik.

However, the names of the other performers set to appear before The Prodigy remain a secret for now. Čelik explained that he is still awaiting official confirmation from the agency, so the full lineup will likely be announced by Monday.

Minister: "We Haven't Had a Stronger Concert Since U2"

Minister of Culture and Sport of Sarajevo Canton, Kenan Magoda, highlighted the importance of this event, comparing it to the historic U2 concert in Sarajevo. "You need guts for the whole team to stand behind this and enter a life project because I think we haven't had a stronger concert since U2," Magoda stated.

He also recalled his own experience growing up with The Prodigy's music. "Our generation of the '80s and '90s, in that wartime madness, had its only window into the world through music. In my case, that was The Prodigy," the minister said. He was particularly moved by the fact that the concert takes place at a stadium that was completely destroyed during the war, concluding: "That's why Garden of Dreams exists-to truly fulfill those dreams."

Tourism Boost for the City

President of the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board, Haris Fazlagić, emphasized how such events change the city's image. He reminded that Sarajevo used to be "a totally dead city during the summer period," with the season only starting on August 20. Today, the situation is significantly different, and statistics confirm it-in the first six months, the number of overnight stays in Sarajevo increased by more than 10 percent.

"That's what matters-that's sustainable tourism. Without such events, without cultural and sports happenings, and plenty of festivals, you can't keep people at a destination for long," said Fazlagić, adding that visitors come precisely for attractions like The Prodigy concert at Grbavica.

Tickets Selling Fast

At the conference, organizers expressed special gratitude to the Football Club Željezničar, the owner of Grbavica Stadium, for granting them the space for this event. As for tickets, those for the Fan Pit and VIP zone are already sold out, and the remaining capacity is filling up quickly. Tickets are available via the platform ulaznica.ba and at kupikartu.ba sales points.
