Ahead of Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day, Croatian Veterans Day, and the anniversary of the 'Storm' military-police operation, the Senj City Library organized the ninth edition of the photography exhibition 'To My Beautiful Croatia'. The opening was held on August 3, 2026, and visitors can view the exhibition until September 1, 2026.

The exhibition's authors are Senj veterans who practice photography: Mirna Smetana Škurla, Miroslav Martulaš, Ante Španić, Dado Nekić, and Mario Šebetovsky. A special place is also given to a photograph by the late Marin Dobrina, the event's originator.

Love for the Homeland Through the Lens

Ana Prpić Rogić, director of the Senj library, who moderated the program, expressed pride that the institution can host the veterans and showcase their artistic work. "The Senj City Library is honored to host our veterans and present their artistic work, and warmly welcomes the authors," said Prpić Rogić.

She also emphasized the symbolic weight of an exhibition created by those who defended the homeland. "The authors are commended participants of the Homeland War who bravely defended the homeland, and now they show their love in a different way, through art that depicts its beauties," she added. The photographs feature motifs of Senj's Kula, Potok, Banja, sunsets, the city at night, ships, cannons, the waterfront, beaches, and panoramas.

Mayor: Preserve Freedom, Identity, and Dignity

The exhibition was officially opened by the Mayor of Senj, Željko Tomljanović. "This exhibition celebrates the beauty of our homeland in a special way. Each photograph testifies to the natural riches, cultural heritage, people, and landscapes that make Croatia unique," said Tomljanović. He added that the exhibition reminds us how valuable the land defended by veterans is and how important it is to preserve its freedom, identity, and dignity.

On behalf of the group of authors, Mario Šebetovsky addressed the audience, sharing his wartime journey and thanking all veterans who wove their lives and health into freedom. The evening was enriched with appropriate music by Tomica Jambrošić.

A Humanitarian Note

The exhibition is for sale, and all proceeds from photo sales are again earmarked for humanitarian purposes, specifically to support the work of the Senj League Against Cancer. Citizens can view and purchase the exhibited works during library hours until September 1, 2026.
