Summary
  • Marko Skejo shouted 'Za dom spremni' three times in Knin on August 5, 2026.
  • He was then filmed in a restaurant singing an Ustasha song about Jura Francetić and Rafael Boban.
  • Skejo was previously acquitted for a similar incident by the Split court in 2022.

Marko Skejo, the former commander of the 9th HOS Battalion 'Rafael Boban', is once again in the spotlight for displaying Ustasha symbols. After participating in the commemoration of the 31st anniversary of the military-police operation Storm in Knin on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, Skejo was filmed with his company in a restaurant singing a song that glorifies Ustasha officials Jura Francetić and Rafael Boban.

Three 'Za dom spremni' Chants Followed by a Song in a Restaurant

The incident occurred after the official part of the program. Skejo, along with several HOS members, laid a wreath at the Monument to the Croatian Victory 'Storm '95' in honor of fallen, missing, and deceased Croatian defenders. On that occasion, according to 24sata, he shouted 'Za dom spremni' three times.

Afterwards, he was filmed in a restaurant singing the lyrics of the Ustasha march 'Evo zore, evo dana'. The footage was published by Index.hr, and the photograph was taken by Zvonimir Barišin.

Repetition of the Pattern from Victory Day

This is not the first time Skejo has found himself in a similar situation. In 2022, the Municipal Misdemeanor Court in Split acquitted thirteen HOS members, including Skejo, of disturbing public order. At that time, they had also shouted 'Za dom spremni' on Victory Day in Knin.

The court then reasoned that it was an exception during the paying of tribute to defenders, although in the same decision it was emphasized that this was an Ustasha salute contrary to the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia. Skejo personally confirmed this information as the first defendant at the time.
