Thrash Metal Invasion in Zabok: Vio-lence Headlines the Festival

Fans of heavy music are eagerly awaiting August 14, 2026, when another edition of the Metal Resurrection festival will take place in Zabok. This longest-running Croatian metal festival, active continuously since 2004, brings three exceptional thrash metal acts from the international scene to the Regenerator Urban Culture Center this year.
The main star of the evening will be the legendary American band Vio-lence. This cult Bay Area thrash metal band was formed in San Francisco in 1985 and is considered one of the pioneers of technical thrash metal. Their album "Eternal Nightmare" ranks among the genre's classics. After reuniting in 2019, the band has been tirelessly conquering world stages with energetic performances that consistently reaffirm their cult status.
Alongside Vio-lence, the Regenerator stage will also welcome Spanish thrash metal sensation Angelus Apatrida. Formed in 2000 in Albacete, the band is now regarded as one of Europe's most respected acts in the genre. Known for uncompromising riffs and technically flawless musicianship, their powerful live shows regularly take them to the world's biggest festivals.
The program will be opened by Cutthroat, a band from Los Angeles. With their raw energy and fierce sound, they will further heat up the atmosphere and prepare the audience for an all-night thrash metal celebration.
Metal Resurrection was born out of an initiative by young members of the Mraz Association who wanted to enrich Zabok's alternative music scene. "What started as a small metal music festival has grown over the years into an unmissable gathering for fans of heavy sound from all over Croatia and neighboring countries," noted the organizer in the festival announcement.
Over more than two decades, the festival stage has hosted numerous bands from all corners of the metal scene, from black, death, and thrash metal to power, metalcore, and classic heavy metal. Today, the festival holds the status of one of the few events of its kind that operates continuously in northern Croatia.
The organizers note that the Regenerator Urban Culture Center is fully accessible to people with various disabilities, who are entitled to free entry to paid programs. Additionally, pets are welcome at the festival.
