Croatian basketball player Boris Tišma (24) is the newest member of the Washington Huskies college team in the prestigious NCAA league. After a season with Zadar, where he averaged 10 points and five rebounds per game and lost the championship final to Cibona, the power forward has decided to continue his career in the United States.

Introduction with Saša Matić

At his introduction to the new club, Tišma did not hide his satisfaction with the conditions. "I talked a lot with the coaches, I liked their vision, as well as the infrastructure the club has. I'm happy with everything I've seen so far, and I think this was a good decision," the Croatian basketball player told 24sata.

Beyond his sporting ambitions, he also shared a glimpse of his pre-game routine, which includes a specific musical selection. "It's mostly Balkan singers, and I listen to Saša Matić the most," Tišma said.

From Real Madrid to Washington

Although he is only 24, Tišma already has an impressive resume. A native of Zagreb, he honed his skills at KK Dubrava, and his talent was recognized by Real Madrid when he was 13. He went through all the youth categories and made his debut for the first team, but left the club five years ago. He continued to build his career through Real Betis, Studentski Centar, Split, and Zadar.

Eight years ago, he was part of the golden cadet generation led by Roko Prkačin and Ivan Perasović, which won gold at the European Championship in Serbia. Although many believe he has not yet fully realized his potential, Tišma has significantly improved over the last three years in the jerseys of Split and Zadar.

The Financial Lure of the NCAA

Moving to the NCAA has become an increasingly common path for young European basketball players since they were allowed to be paid two years ago. So far, about thirty Croatian basketball players have taken this route, and it is estimated that Tišma should earn around €500,000 annually at the American university.

"I want us to win every game, and I want to improve more and more each year. I'll give my all for the team, and I think the fans will soon see what my strongest qualities are," Tišma said.
