One person was killed and two were injured in a serious traffic accident that occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2026, at around 10 PM in the Zagreb neighborhood of Odranski Obrež. The car veered off the road and split in half, confirmed by the Zagreb Police Department.
All emergency services responded to the scene on Dr. Luje Naletilića Street. Firefighters from the Zagreb Public Fire Brigade extracted all three people from the wrecked vehicle. Paramedics from Emergency Medical Services attempted to resuscitate the deceased for a long time, but the injuries were too severe and there was no saving them.
A reader of the 24sata portal who was at the scene described the sight as extremely harrowing. "There were a lot of police, emergency services, and firefighters at the scene. We were passing by after the accident happened; it looked really terrible. I'd say all the people in the car were young," she recounted.
Although all sources agree that this is the same accident in which a car veered off the road, there are minor discrepancies regarding the exact location. In addition to Odranski Obrež, Dnevnik.hr reports that the accident occurred in Novi Zagreb, on Luje Naletilića Street. The portal Kronike Velike Gorice, however, states that the accident happened on the road between Botinec and Odranski Obrež.
A police investigation is currently underway, and more details about the circumstances leading to this tragedy will be known once it is completed. So far, it is unknown what caused the vehicle to leave the road.
