The final Alka rehearsals ahead of the grand Alka weekend in Sinj concluded successfully on Thursday, August 6, 2026. All 17 lancers, chosen by the Duke, took the opportunity for a final 'sighting in' and displayed impressive form, promising exciting competitions ahead.
The first run was marked by great spirit and not a single miss. Four 'srides' (center hits) were scored by Jure Domazet Lošo, Pavao Prolić, Ante Zorica, and Ivo Zorica. Hitting the upper section of the Alka target, 'in one', were Marko Vrca, Andrija Hrgović, Frano Ivković, Stipe Bogdan, and deputy alajčauš Tino Radanović. Four Alka riders hit 'in one', and the same number hit 'in nothing'.
In the continuation of the rehearsals, the center of the Alka was again hit by Pavao Prolić and Stipe Bogdan. Six riders hit 'in two': alajčauš Ivica Filipović-Grčić, Frano Talaja, Marko Vrca, Mihovil Župa, Ante Zorica, and Bože Mandac. Five riders each earned one point, two knocked the Alka off, one missed, and one skipped the shooting.
In the finale, there were no 'sride' hits, but six lancers each scored two points: Frano Talaja, Ante Zorica, Bože Mandac, Ivo Zorica, Stipe Bogdan, and Tino Radanović. As many as eight riders hit 'in one', and only one lancer aimed 'in nothing'. There were no misses, but two lancers skipped the shooting.
Ultimately, the rehearsals were rated very good, with the top three Alka riders sharing the lead with an equal score of seven points each. They are Pavao Prolić, Ante Zorica, and Stipe Bogdan.
After the successful rehearsals, the start of the Alka weekend is eagerly anticipated. The first competition is scheduled for Friday, August 7, 2026, when the preparatory competition for the Bara prize begins at 5:30 PM. A day later, on Saturday, August 8, at the same time, the competition for the Čoja prize will take place. The highlight is the 311th Sinjska Alka, which will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2026, starting at 4:30 PM.
All competitions will be available via live broadcast on Hit Radio, on frequencies 104.9 and 92.2 MHz, as well as on their website. As the author of the article on the Ferata portal puts it: "May the Alka bring luck to all!"
