The Koprivnica-Križevci Police Department has released details of a serious traffic accident that occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2026, on the Podravska Magistrala in the town of Virje. Three people were injured in the collision between two passenger vehicles, and all were transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
The accident happened around 2:05 PM on Novigradska Street. According to initial police reports, a 62-year-old driver was operating a passenger vehicle with Austrian license plates. "In a manner not yet determined, the vehicle crossed into the lane designated for oncoming traffic," the police stated for ePodravina.
There, a direct collision occurred with a passenger vehicle bearing Koprivnica license plates, driven by a 37-year-old man. A 37-year-old female passenger was also in the vehicle and sustained injuries as well.
Both drivers and the passenger received immediate medical attention, but the severity of their injuries will only be known once the police receive the complete medical documentation. At this time, the condition of those involved in the accident is unknown.
