Following two violent incidents in Zadar, a 30-year-old Ukrainian national has been placed in pretrial detention. After questioning at the Municipal State Attorney's Office in Zadar, the investigating judge at the Zadar County Court ordered him into one-month pretrial detention, as reported by Večernji list.
According to sources, the first attack occurred on July 18, 2026, when the suspect physically assaulted a man, repeatedly striking him forcefully in the head and inflicting severe bodily injuries.
Just 11 days later, on July 29, the same man was involved in a brawl outside a nightclub in Zadar. When another man attempted to break up the fight, the 30-year-old attacked him with a glass bottle.
After being arrested and questioned by the prosecution, the suspect was brought before the investigating judge. Due to suspicion of causing serious injury and attempted serious injury, he was ordered into one-month pretrial detention. The reasons cited for detention were the risk of flight and the possibility of reoffending.
