A wildfire has broken out in the area of Mirlović Zagora in Šibenik-Knin County, with numerous firefighters and aerial forces engaged in extinguishing it. The Šibenik-Knin County Fire Operations Center received the report of the fire today, August 6, 2026, at 1:25 PM, the Croatian Firefighting Association announced.
According to information from the scene, 13 firefighters with five fire vehicles are currently engaged at the fire site. Members of the Drniš Public Fire Brigade and the volunteer fire departments of Unešić, Drniš, and Ružić are participating in the suppression efforts.
To bring the blaze under control as quickly as possible, two Canadair CL-415 firefighting aircraft are also joining the operation. These aircraft are crucial for fighting fires in the hard-to-reach terrain typical of the Dalmatian hinterland.
So far, there is no information on the extent of the fire or whether any residential or commercial infrastructure is threatened. Details about the situation on the ground will be known after firefighters conduct further reconnaissance and assessment.
